About Us

Helping Christian leaders  find solutions that sustain their ministries

Our Story

Sustainable Missions was founded by Graham Vermooten who has been in missions for over four decades.

Graham's journey through over 80 countries - including 34 in Africa - revealed a consistent truth: missionaries and mission projects are rich in calling, vision, and determination. Yet time and again, it’s the lack of resources (not passion) that stands in the way of fulfilling their God-given dreams.

As political and economic landscapes shift, African missionaries can no longer rely on external donations that are unpredictable and difficult to sustain. Without consistent income, it becomes increasingly difficult to support ministry teams, provide for families, and effectively serve their communities.

That’s why Sustainable Missions exists: to help missionaries unlock the potential of what’s already in their hands—for lasting Kingdom impact. Sustainable Missions’ passion is to equip missionaries with practical skills and sustainable solutions that keep their ministries strong and resilient.

Sustainable Missions is not about launching new business ventures. It’s about finding ways to continue the calling God has placed on our lives. For many missionaries, even after faithfully applying Western support-raising models, financial support still falls short. Sustainable Missions shifts the focus to local, tangible resources, whether it’s trees, cows, pigs, bees, or a small piece of land. These are not meant to become full-time jobs, but rather practical, supplemental solutions that help sustain the work of ministry.

Just like the boy with five loaves and two fish, David with his five smooth stones, or the widow with her few jars of oil, God often uses what we already have to accomplish far more than we could ever imagine.
